Keeping Birth and Motherhood Sacred

Birth is a rite of passage, something that will change your very being. No matter how many times you experience it, it changes you.

Bhāvanā Mama Birth Services

Bhavana Mama Birth support is doula service here to help women find their own strength in walking the path that is conception, birth, to postpartum. It is our goal to make our clients feel safe, supported, and educated through the birth process.

We offer services that can help a wide range of women in Central Virginia with goals from a planned home birth to a scheduled cesarean, and anything in-between!

Continuous birth support

Continuous labor support means being right by mamas side through their labor. Helping with what they need and having the knowledge to know what they need.

Different techniques work for each laboring person. I go through a number of options to decide on what works best for each client. These can be things such as counter pressure, hip squeezes, massage, hot/cold therapy, and other ways that make bringing your baby to your arms a gentle experience.

There is a wide range of aspects to keep in mind during labor. Along side those listed above, it is also my job to help and guide the mother through problems or delays in labor, positioning, medical terminology and treatment, how they’re doing emotionally, nutrition and remembering to hydrate.

Postpartum wellness planning

My approach to thriving postpartum looks at support, education, and diet. Postpartum planning is something I talk about with every client, because it is fundamental. The end goal isn’t just to have a beautiful birth, it’s about sending home an empowered family that feels prepared to take on parenthood. A new mother, no matter how many times they’ve done this before, needs to be cared for physically, nutritionally and emotionally. I like to prepare families with information about the realness of postpartum, tips and tricks for new babies, recipes and feeding a new mom through breastfeeding, extensive information on breastfeeding a new baby, and signs to watch out for emotionally.

I offer a number of different postpartum planning options, each service package has the opportunity to dive deeper. Postpartum doula services are also available as a service on its own or added to a birth doula package.

New mothers need as much attention as a newborn because they too have just been born.

Postpartum doula care | $15 (hourly rate)

We offer postpartum doula services as a separate service, even to families that are not birth doula clients. This special time can be so easily clouded over by the stress of housework, hosting guests, breastfeeding, among other things, learning how to take care of a new baby can be challenging! Postpartum care can be worked in to fit a schedule or can be used as needed when things are feeling overwhelming.

(Two hour minimum)

postpartum care Add on | $135 Add on

This add-on only package includes 10 hours of additional postpartum care at a discounted rate. The postpartum period, or 4th trimester, deserves to be planned just as much if not more than the birth. Unprepared and unsupported mothers can experience unnecessary struggles and additional anxieties during the postpartum period. Whether they need additional overnight support, help with basic house keeping, or just someone to hold and provide for your newborn and/or other children, these hours are just for that.

“Just as a tree grows best when anchored firmly in the earth, so can a pregnant mother feel strong and capable when supported by a sisterhood of nurturing friends.”
